I have had a customer put a bit of oil on it, leave it sitting for a couple of hours and then use a heat gun to warm it up and then the pin slid out. I have had a customer report that a drop of oil loosened it and then he used small pliers to pull it out.
Another customer put the receiver in the freezer for 20 mins or so. He then held the receiver by the barrel and struck it (pin side down) in the wood section of his workbench and he was able to loosen the pin and pull it out.
I have had others glue (either using a hot glue gun, or a ""super glue"") a screw or nail head to the end of the LCI pin and let it sit overnight. Then pull on the nail to pull the pin out. It gives you a little more leverage to work with.
Drilling it out: There are two methods you can do o drill it out. The first is to put it into a vice and carefully starting with a 1/16th inch bit you can put a hole in the top of the pin. The pin is hard on the outside but gets soft very quick. Once you have a hole in the pin you can move up to a larger drill bit and it will catch and be able to pull free. If it still does not come out you can put a screw into the end of the pin and then pull it out with the screw.
Your other drilling choice is to remove the plastic LCI and then use a dremel to notch the pin. Once the pin is notched, you can use a flathead screwdriver to push the pin out. You can see how a customer did that here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xRqe23FvKAE
